The Mathematics Research Institute of the University of Extremadura (IMUEx) is a premier institution dedicated to excellence in mathematical research. Fully integrated within the University of Extremadura, IMUEx serves as a fundamental pillar of the region’s R&D ecosystem.
Our mission is to foster both fundamental and applied research across all fields of mathematics, acting as a strategic hub for scientific collaboration at national and international levels.
2. Missions & Objectives
In alignment with the core values of the University, IMUEx is committed to:

3. Organization & Governance
IMUEx operates under a transparent and meritocratic governance model, structured as follows:
- Governing Bodies: The Institute Council (the highest governing authority) and the Standing Committee.
- Advisory Board: An External Scientific Advisory Committee, composed of internationally renowned researchers from outside the University, ensuring the highest standards of scientific quality.
- Research Units: Our operational framework is organized into specialized Research Units, designed to facilitate cross-disciplinary projects and cooperation within the global Science and Technology system.
